There’s nothing quite like giving a pretty personalised gift to a loved one, but sometimes, it can be a little bit difficult to add truly personal touches to needlecraft projects. Sure, you can add appliqued imagery that means something to your recipient, but wouldn’t it be amazing if you could add words or names with ease? With the Build-a-Block Alphabet and Numbers, you can!

This system of dies follows on from the crowd favourite Build-a-Block system, which allows you to create a selection of patchwork pieces in various sizes to help you put together stunning quilt blocks. With the Alphabet and Number system, you’ll receive 20 dies that work together to create all of the letters and numbers, plus extra embellishments, like houses and hearts. That makes it perfect for getting creative with phrases, names and dates!

Because we’re such big fans of this die set, we wanted to share some inspiration with you all to help you get the creative juice going. Take a look through the photos and suggestions below!

This set contains dies to help you create 6″, 8″, 9″, 10″ and 12″ patchwork blocks that can be used to style a variety of letters and numbers. This means that you can personalise practically any piece!

We love this stunning rainbow alphabet that is set against a crisp white backdrop with matching edges. It would make a gorgeous quilt for a child or a playmat for a baby. The bright colours will catch their eyes instantly and add a touch of playful decor to their room.

If you wanted something a little bit different to the alphabet, why not try out numbers? The creation on the right features every number from 0 – 9, plus punctuation, so this could be incredible for an older child.

While the white background is lovely, the rainbow alphabet looks extra punchy against black. It adds an exciting neon effect, especially when paired up with the funky border! Again, this could work beautifully as a playmat or even as a wall hanging for a children’s room.

If you wanted to take this bright effect even further, you could use patterned material to set against the black – imagine how much that would pop!

If quilts aren’t your thing, then check out this gorgeous cushion. This features patterned letters, plus the heart and house embellishments that we mentioned earlier, making a sentimental piece that would ideal in any household. You could customise the colours to suit a certain scheme or experiment with other wording to suit the occasion.

This cushion would be perfect for a new home, for a student moving house or just to give as a keepsake for a birthday!

Again, if quilts aren’t your thing, how about this cute Christmas bunting? It looks so sweet hanging across the mantelpiece and can easily be personalised to match your festive colour scheme. You could make a whole set with other festive words, like Santa, bauble or any other word that takes your fancy!

These 1.5mm Multi Media dies are capable of cutting through multiple layers of fabric at once, so you’ll have a whole world of quilting and patchwork opportunities at your fingertips! This means that the process of cutting out your fabric is much quicker than using a rotary cutter, so you’ll have more time to focus on stitching and embellishing your project to perfection. This makes them ideal for more complicated projects that would usually take a long amount of time!

We absolutely can’t wait to see what you create with your Build-a-Block Alphabet and Numbers, so make sure you share your photos with us on our Sew Inspiring with Crafter’s Companion Facebook page, tag us on Instagram (#crafterscompanionsews), on Pinterest (@CraftersCompUK) or on Twitter (@CraftersCompUK)!
