Here's what you'll need

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Choose the colours you want to use for your flag and the other elements such as the name and the other pieces.
  2. Make a triangle template in the size you would like your flag to be, trace around it, and cut it out of felt.
  3. Using that template, sketch out your name so you can check the size will fit, make sure to leave at least ½ inch at the start, cut out the template, trace it on your felt and cut it out. Precision snips may make this easier!
  4. Use the hot glue gun and glue the name down, remembering to leave the left-hand edge of the flag free.
  5. Using a different coloured felt, cut an inch wide strip long enough to fit the left-hand edge. Glue it down so ½ inch is hanging over the edge. Then fold it over and glue this excess down at the back. Trim the piece so it fits the flag.
  6. Using another colour, cut 4 ½ inch strips roughly 5 inches long on the back and glue these down in a “V” shape, one at the top, one at the bottom of the left hand edge of the flag.
